Muirfinn

Marine Energy Management System (EMS) for hybrid and battery-electric vessels.

MOOR-FIN  ·  Irish Gaelic: muir (sea) + finn (derived from energy)

Muirfinn is an EMS for hybrid and battery-electric vessels aimed at reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), providing predictive maintenance and generating compliance & regulatory data automatically. It sits above the existing power management system as a supervisory layer: no changes to safety-critical architecture, no onerous product certification requirements, built on class Type Approved hardware from day one.

What it does
Reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

Optimises dispatch across batteries, generators and shore power — cutting fuel burn, wear cycles and peak demand charges without touching existing safety-critical control logic.

Asset health monitoring & predictive maintenance as standard

Class A power quality monitoring and condition monitoring built in — using your existing instrumentation or our own. Gives operators visibility into electrical system health that most vessels simply don't have today.

Compliance reporting data — ready for your verifier

FuelEU, CII and EU ETS logs signed and timestamped as a matter of course. No manual assembly, no spreadsheets — ready when the auditor arrives.

No rip-and-replace

Muirfinn sits above the existing power management system as a supervisory layer. No changes to safety-critical architecture. Class-approved hardware from day one.

Regulatory tailwinds
Regulation is driving demand
  • Carbon taxes and emissions trading — CO₂ pricing is now a commercial reality for vessel operators. Verified energy data is the foundation.
  • IMO & EU Regulations — shore power and fuel transition mandates are creating hard deadlines for energy management and compliance reporting.
  • Power quality — Common Mode (CM) voltages & currents demand Class A monitoring for detection & mitigation.
  • IACS UR E26/E27 — cyber resilience and system integrity requirements are reshaping marine electrical architecture.
