Control logic development of electrically powered, hydrofoiling marine vessel. Setup of bespoke toolchain for automatic code generation on prototype ECU and porting control logic to production grade system. 

 

Develop zero emissions vessels through the deployment of HV Li-ion batteries. Experienced in both the development of the batteries and the integration in to Energy Storage Systems (ESS). Experienced in product creation & development from concept through to production with through V&V cycle. Able to establish & maintain productive & value adding supplier relationships. Skilled at capturing product design requirements facilitating clear & efficient project delivery.

 

Automotive
Digital and connected software solutions for electrified powertrain including BMS, thermal management and powertrain control and associated bespoke CAE toolchains.

 

Seamless transmission development based on F1 technology adopted for mass production vehicle. Control logic development, dyno testing, vehicle testing, benchmarking against competition, quantifying subjective shift feeling experience.

 

HV Battery Engineer leading premium/luxury OEM in-house battery design, engineering, testing & manufacturing for both PHEV & BEV vehicles including Jaguar I-Pace BEV and Range Rover PHEV vehicles. Experienced with both cylindrical & pouch cell based battery pack designs.  Central to the delivery of the LG Chem 90 kWh battery pack.

 

Motor Sport

LMP1 energy storage development, control logic and dyno testing based on 1st generation of Formula 1 KERS. 

 

WRC rally car combustion engine torque control development. Air path, ignition path and lambda path torque estimation. Knock control. Gearshift logic. 

 

Development of fully electric LMP1 car. Actuation control using aerospace hydraulic system. Moog valve control. Hydraulic system modeling. Hydraulically operated brake by wire logic with focus on functional safety. High voltage energy storage management focused on extracting maximum performance. Li-ion cell thermal runaway detection.

 

Aerospace
Control system development for payload vibration suppression platform for next generation launchers.

 

Aircraft avionics upgrade design and system commissioning for multiple aircraft types. Providing in-service support including close customer liaison and support. Overseeing the new product development, certification and entry into service of in house developed Avionics.

 

Control System Architecture, Avionics, and Electrical design for a Hybrid Air Vehicle Airship. This included bench testing, system commissioning, and ground support for Flight Tests, as well as telemetry development for flight testing.

 

Energy Systems & Renewable Energy
Development, deployment and pilot testing of next-gen advanced control, optimization and machine learning solutions for home, commercial and industrial energy management solutions.

 

Power system engineer performing detailed studies & calculations in the steady-state, frequency and time domains to assess wind farm impact on grid stability & performance. Extensive power system modelling & simulations derived from strong understanding of resistive, capacitive & inductive circuitry.

 

Oil and Gas
Power systems engineer responsible for the creation & approval of protection schemes related to new and existing oil & gas installations. Proficient with ETAP for systems studies and protection coordination. Responsible for setting of various protection devices including GE, SEL, Siemens, ABB and many types of LV circuit breakers.

 

Metals & Mining
Engineering, commissioning and optimization of process automation for steel and aluminium industries.

 

Automation R&D and New Product Development for Crushers and Screeners. This also included telematics development for in-service machines and machine learning development for in-service support applications.
